Kimberlite Geology
Detailed geological logging together with petrographic investigation of drill cores provides the essential framework for building robust geological models that form the foundation of resource estimates and economic models for kimberlite pipes. Mineral Services offers leading international expertise in the field of applied kimberlite geology. Its team of consultants can assist with all geological aspects of the design and implementation of a kimberlite evaluation or mine planning programme.
Indicator Mineral Geochemistry
Mineral Services combines its technical expertise with specialised laboratory processes and internally developed software applications (Mantle Mapper™) to provide clients with integrated solutions to challenges encountered during the exploration and evaluation stages of projects. Dr John Gurney developed the original G10 garnet methodology for diamond exploration in the late 1970s; our team of consultants has continued to refine exploration technology based on the geochemistry of indicator minerals over the past 25 years. This has ensured that Mineral Services remains at the forefront of this specialist field of geochemistry.
Microdiamond Evaluation
Microdiamond data is widely used in early-stage evaluation of kimberlite diamond deposits. The reliability of a microdiamond assessment is, however, very sensitive to numerous factors associated with sampling, processing and diamond recovery, weighing approach and method, and treatment of the resultant diamond data. Mineral Services has been involved with the generation and interpretation of kimberlite microdiamond data for over two decades.
This includes successful application to numerous evaluation projects worldwide, ranging from initial post-discovery assessment to advanced resource estimation programmes. The company is well placed to assist with all aspects of microdiamond assessment and specialises in advanced data interpretation and modelling techniques for maximising the grade and value information obtainable from diamond datasets.
Resource Evaluation, Modelling and Classification
Mineral Services’ consultants provide a range of services related to the evaluation of kimberlite deposits including including the design and supervision of delineation and bulk sampling programmes, microdiamond and geochemical sampling exercises, statistical evaluation of results, resource estimates, risk assessment and deposit classification.
Petrographic and Mineralogical Studies for Environmental, Metallurgical and Ore Geology Applications
Through our Vancouver facility, Mineral Services offers a wide range of petrographic and mineralogical services focused on environmental, metallurgical and ore geology applications. Specific applications include petrography of base metal, precious metal and uranium projects and deposits, as well as characterisation of concentrates, tailings and humidity cells. Services include transmitted and reflected light microscopy, XRD and SEM analysis.
