Short Courses

Mineral Services offers a variety of short courses to the diamond exploration and mining industry. Previous courses run in Cape Town and Vancouver over the past decade have received enthusiastic endorsements from course participants representing a broad spectrum of diamond industry professionals

By way of example, one of our short courses entitled Kimberlites, Diamonds and the Upper Mantle is a three-day overview of the nature of kimberlites and an introduction to upper mantle petrology, the use of kimberlite indicator minerals in diamond exploration and the genesis of diamond.

Practical laboratory workshops form a component of some of our courses. We also offer a variety of advanced one-day modules on specialist topics including indicator mineral techniques, exploration geophysics, diamond exploration targeting and exploration philosophy and techniques. Customised private courses are also offered by arrangement and these can be run at company facilities or project locations anywhere in the world.

Lecturers include world leaders in their respective fields who are actively involved in applied research and in providing daily expertise as consultants in a wide variety of diamond exploration and evaluation projects around the globe. The team includes Dr John Gurney, Dr Rory Moore, Dr Tom Nowicki, Casey Hetman, Kimberley Webb, Dr Branko Corner, Dr Peter Hildebrand and Mike Baumgartner.
