Safety
Remote Exploration Services (RES) runs a stringent safety programme through a reliable communications network, area-specific evacuation procedures and a 24-hour safety officer ensuring that RES is well prepared for the inherent risks of operating in remote African locations.
In the case of personal safety, RES has demonstrated over a 15-year period of extensive operations in over 70 field programmes that it is possible to implement measures to ensure safe operations. This is a fundamental expectation of the business.
RES realises that safe operations can only be accomplished with very specific, prioritised and pro-active involvement from management and this focus is a priority of the management team.
As Brett van Coller, managing director of RES, says: “Safety is an attitude to work rather than a form-filling exercise and only on-the-job behavioural observations will result in an attitude more aligned to doing things safely.”
